About

From 1946 onwards the Dutch peer-reviewed journal Nederlands Theologisch Tijdschrift (Dutch Theological Journal) publishes articles and reviews in the field of the academic study of theology. The journal once started as an initiative of the Dutch State Universities (Rijksuniversiteiten) with a Theological Faculty, but is now supported by academic staff of all Dutch and Flemish universities (see for the history of NTT till 2006 https://www.ariemolendijk.nl/downloads/download0015.pdf). As a result of changes in the field of academic theology and religious studies, it was decided in 2017 to rename the journal, in order to strengthen the international character of the journal and to reflect the growing number of articles in the field of religious studies. Hence, from 2017 the journal appears under the name NTT Journal for Theology and the Study of Religion, a name that both reflects its long tradition and its continuous strive for academic innovation.
